12 years ago, Michael walked into the Good Shepherd Centre, a ShareLife recipient – homeless, penniless, friendless. He was only 25 but had already wrecked a promising life with hard drinking and drug use. Availing of the Centre's Drug and Alcohol Recovery Enrichment program, Michael finally managed to turn his life around and start afresh – those who knew him then and now are just astounded at the change. ShareLife funded agencies assisted over 20,000 people with special needs last year, affirming their value to our society.

At Les Centres, Gerard found a wonderful, nurturing home and a warm, supportive family. When he passed away last year, the man who seemed alone and friendless, brought out a tearful crowd to his farewell mass. Nearly 55,000 seniors in the GTA were involved in the programs and services offered by ShareLife agencies in 2009.

Our Lady of Lourdes - In 1858, in a grotto, near Lourdes in southern France, Our Lady appeared 18 times to Bernadette Soubirous, a young peasant girl. She revealed herself as the Immaculate Conception, asked that a chapel be built on the site of the vision, and told the girl to drink from a fountain in the grotto. When Bernadette dug at a spot designated by the apparition, a spring began to flow. The water from this still flowing spring has shown remarkable healing power, though it contains no curative property that science can identify. Lourdes has become the most famous modern shrine of Our Lady.
