Music Ministry

Music Director: Geoffrey Butler

All Saints has held a long tradition of dedication to the praise of God through music.

Over eight musicians, mainly singers participate on a regular basis in the liturgical life of the parish.  Under the direction of qualified professionals the choirs of All Saints play a key role in the many and varied liturgical celebrations that our parishioners have come to enjoy.

From a very young age the music ministry offers training in vocal music, music theory and exposes to the catechism of the Church.

The Cherub Choir is made up of children aged from junior kindergarten through grade one.  They meet Sunday mornings during the 9:30 mass and sing in the church on special occasions.  Mrs. Rosalind Marriott, Mrs. Stasia Jaffray and Miss Erika Giesl who bring a wealth of experience in both education and vocal music teach the children.

The Junior Choir accepts students in grade two as they prepare to receive their first Holy Communion and continues their training until grade six.  This choir, led by Miss Giovanna Carini, rehearses weekly and provides music for the 9:30am mass every Sunday.  They receive instruction in voice and choral technique, the rudiments of music theory.

The Senior Choir is the backbone of the music program and sings at 11:00am mass on Sunday and at all major feasts during the year.  The choir members are committed to excellence in choral music and worship.  In addition, from time to time, the choir performs in concert both inside and outside of the parish.

To co-ordinate all of these efforts and demands of serving a community of this size, All Saints has two professional musicians on staff to serve as cantor, organist, and choir directors.  Often the challenges of our creative liturgies require that new music is created or music is used for dramatic effect.  Music plays a vital role in our parish lives.  Music can lift us in the praise of our God, comfort us in times of distress and create an overall effect of the sacred.

In closing the musicians of All Saints would like to say a very special thank you to our fellow parishioners for allowing us to serve in this most wonderful way and for giving us the opportunity to express our faith in song.

All are welcome to join these choirs:

Mary, the Mother of Christ, is the Mother and Model of the Church. She is the faithful disciple who opened her heart to welcome the Word (Luke 1:29).

In her, the Word was made Flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Mary is the bearer of Christ to the world, teaching us to "do what he tells us" (John 2:5).

She is the one who remained faithful to God's will and stood beneath the Cross trusting and loving, and welcoming all into her heart as her children: "Woman, behold your son" (John 19:26).

Mary is the one around whom the early community gathered, awaiting the gift of the Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 1:14). She continues to be for us a light on the path to the Kingdom, a companion in the journey of faith.
