March 31, 2010 | | | | | PRAYERS FOR YOUR TABLE
AT EASTER God of life, we thank you for all that your Son Jesus has done for us. In him we have passed over from death to life; from slavery to freedom. In him and through him we have become your beloved children. We praise you, in our Easter celebration, for your love and care.
Bless us, and the food we are about to share.
Bless those who have prepared it.
Bless those who are without food and lack the necessities of life.
Through the strength and sustenance which this food brings us, may we go forth to fill our world with a renewed springtime of love.
On this holy day, bless our loved ones, far and near. Bless all who struggle because of illness, economic challenges, personal turmoil.
May the joys of Easter resound through our words and actions. We ask this through Christ, our Risen Lord. Amen. | | | | | |

Our Lady of Lourdes - In 1858, in a grotto, near Lourdes in southern France, Our Lady appeared 18 times to Bernadette Soubirous, a young peasant girl. She revealed herself as the Immaculate Conception, asked that a chapel be built on the site of the vision, and told the girl to drink from a fountain in the grotto. When Bernadette dug at a spot designated by the apparition, a spring began to flow. The water from this still flowing spring has shown remarkable healing power, though it contains no curative property that science can identify. Lourdes has become the most famous modern shrine of Our Lady. |
